QuoteOzma Interview & Live Performance
Thursday, May 31st @ 5pm PST / 8 EST
Go to MUSICPLUSTV.COM tomorrow at 5pm PST / 8 EST for a video broadcast, interview and a 4 song live set. The show will be streaming live at that time, and archived later.
In other news... we just hit 1,000,000 (ONE MILLLLLION!!!) plays on our MySpace music player.
Check out the Ozma blog for more announcements and information.
I am very excited to see some up-close footage of a few new songs.
Anyone know how fast they "archive" these things? I'll be at work while it's on tomorrow. Argh.
Its looks like it runs live, and then when its over it just gets added to the list of other archieved videos. So I don't think anyone has too much to worry about.
I am lame. I looked at the date and saw that it was May 31 (2:28 AM, Central Time) and thought to myself "Fuck, I missed it."
It took me a little while to realize that it is currently the morning of the 31st. I think it is time for me to go to bed :(
just started
....am i supposed to be getting a rilo kiley music video?

Yes, they are on a break from the interview.
Hahaha They're making fun of the forums.
what a tool this guy is...
Yeah well all interviewers have a tough job. How can you interview someone for an hour.

what'd they say? I just started listening a minute ago...

i'm sure it is... but "what does eponine mean?" ??? ??? ???
joe, they said something about varnon... i don't know who that is.
talking shit about that varnon guy
I'm glad to know that Daniel likes "Meow Meow Lullaby" by Nada Surf.
Also, it was hilarious when they were talking about varnon.
I loled my ass off when they made fun of varnon.
I hope they realize most of us heart them forever.
This interview has been hilarious. Aborted fetus caused a roflolfest.
Varnon:

Well she still sounds awfull to me.
Anyway, I'm not saying anybody is somewhat pretty and not talented.
But if you have a chick in the bad that is somewhat pretty, thats all it takes.
Its like having a novelty instrument. People favor keytar over synth even if they play the same things.
People just really like stuff like that. I know its weird to say a girl is a novelty, and I don't agree that it should be that way.
But if you just watch the way people act, you will see what I'm talking about.
And at this point I don't think I need to go on my little rant explaining why Rachel whoever shouldn't be singing if she doesn't play with them. But as much as I don't like her vocals in the song, maybe Star actualy does a better job live. She did Wake Up too right? Sounds fine there.
Glad it's not about the forum in general, just about particular people.
Yeah, I got kinda embarrassed for a second. I mean, as sad as it sounds, I sorta feel like we're representatives of this place, and I don't want them getting the wrong impression like their fans dog them all the time or something.

well, they did say about 90% of us really love the album and the other 10 completely bash it wanting it to sound more like Ocho.
I was fucking around with trying to get this WMRecorder shit working and I missed that second half of the interview. :-[
Did they start playing at all, or is that still being set up while these hair metal songs play?
they haven't started playing yet.
So if you get it up and running you can watch the performance part.
Stupid crack kept trying to write a .reg file with the serial to the C partition before importing it, and Vista was having no part of that, goddamn new security model. If they had just given me the serial straight up I could've just entered it when asked, instead of having to boot into XP, install it, find out that the program itself has problems with my XP install, run the crack, grab the serial from XP's registry, and then finally boot back into Vista to activate the damn program so it would record more than five minutes at a stretch.
At least I now have a crappy-quality recording of a Belle & Sebastian music video.
Wow when is the live section going to start. Atleast Deathcab is on now.
So glad we're into 20 straight minutes without seeing the band.
And after such a great job by the interviewer!
Well can you record their performance then? Since they havent started that yet?
Trying. My connection to them doesn't seem to be the most stable, either.
I guess it's not a big deal since these are archived, but at a quick glance it looks like once they put it up there it's harder to get off the site than this live Windows Media stream allows.
When they repost it I'll try to rip with streamripper - even if it comes out as a WMV I can transcode it later.

sound tests, et. al probably. patience, young padawan.
The worst part is that most of these are horrible music videos. Its tortuous. I have finals to study for, but I can't risk missing the performance!
Go Star! That's the loudest I've ever heard her sing.
LOVE that song live. LOVE!
that was great!

Yeah that was pretty awesome. I also really enjoyed Korobeiniki, maybe it's been too long since I've seen them live, but it seemed to have way more energy than usual. Can't wait for Boston.
Yeah Heartache! That was really great.
So is that it? They never said if they were coming back or not.
Have I mentioned how much I like "Heartache vs. Heartbreak"?
they could have done a better job setting up the recording equipment...the vocals were way too quiet.
and the easiest thing i've found to use to record streaming video is fraps.

I'm not even going to lie. It might be my favorite Ozma song.
I feel it was a total win-win scenario.
win: An excellent live version of HvH is displayed globally
win: Varnon is dissed on camera globally
Con: I missed the latter. :-[
did anyone happen to like record it somehow or anything?
did you happen to read the thread?
I really hope they play more after this Dilated song - I better not have sat through that for nothing.

It will be replayed in my heart many many times.
Judging by how gangster the whole show seems to be now, I'm willing to bet that Ozma is done. And if they're not, I'll have to watch it later - I can't stand this.

the show listing is on the right hand side. it's now Organic...
the ILLEST underground hip hop show on earth (musicplustv.com).

beardpluslove: some of the questions were totally ridiculous though.

Wow thats hilarious. I sent an IM question, but I logged off shortly after I sent it because having AIM up was slowing down the live feed.
Dude seemed to be making do as best he could. Interviewing seems tough in general, let alone for bands outside of your musical interest.
yeah no, he wasn't too bad. I mean, he looked them up and tried to be interesting. I've seen much worse interviews.
Also, did anyone else think he looked like Turtle from Entourage?

he did, especially with him seeing that they had a flight and landing of yuri gagarin. but the name of the show was "rock this" implying that the person would be adept to at least that genre of music. this guy, however, by the looks of it with the terrible grammar and cocked-to-the-side hat was more geared for that organic hip hop show as a vj. i think jesse camp would have been way better as a host and interviewer... at least he had charisma.
does anyone have a link or anything to this? I searched the musicplustv site but can't find anything.

Well, I uploaded the performance segment, at least, to the FTP. The .asf is the trimmed stream they provided, the .mkv is the same video and audio in a less horrible container. Joe can decide which one he thinks is best to leave up, if he feels like making a choice.
I found the Ozma page, at least..can't find where to watch it though.

Ryen: "The fans on on the forum are always like 'they should make it sound like ocho'."

Does anyone know where to find the video? I'd love to see it and the musicplustv is undeniably difficult to navigate.
thanks
max
As far as anyone can tell, they haven't uploaded it yet. Performance segment is on the FTP.

can you put it in the repository, perchance? that would be dope.
Actually, I tried, but the file extension filter doesn't seem to like either .mkv nor .asf, and rejected the uploads.
