icecreamman

lets see how my memory treats me.....

Order that I can't remember:
If I Only Had a Heart (dude, they were really grooving on this)
Continental Drift
Shooting Stars
Battlescars
Heartache/Heartbreak
Domino effect
Gameover
No one needs to know
the three new songs from the previous show

Rocks

Encore:
Natalie Portman
Tetris
Baseball

Sorry for such a piss-poor setlist. Somebody might have a more complete/chronological one. I didn't talk to the band or anything but they made it sound as though they were coming back soon or had plans/the desire to come back soon when speaking between songs. They seemed to be getting along quite nicely and having a good time.

No I am not Bob.  I am Billy and I didn't meet you, or at least I don't think.

As for your setlist, pretty spot on!  I remember Game Over being the 3rd or 4th song played.

And I think Battlescars was later on in the show (maybe even encore).

I thought I saw Sandguy there, but that was based on a picture from a long time ago...might've been some other pacific islander dude; he yelled out "HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!" to which the band chimed in as well.

My thoughts on the show:

Hadn't seen them since 2005, so the new stuff was new to me.  My favorite line from the show was Dan saying "Smoke em if you gottem" right before going into a new song with him and Star singing.  Take it any way you want, I found it funny.

I thought they added a lot of peripherals to the songs (i.e. sudden stops, transitions, gesticulation) that I don't recall being there before.  Fun to see that.  During no one needs to know (the bass riff) there was a lot of chatter coming from one corner of the room (stage right) and I saw Dan walk over there while playing and give them a stare.  Dunno if that was because he wanted them to cut it out or just for fun.  Either way, I agree that the band was having a good time.  Drummer is pretty Samuel!

There were a few messups, but nothing that was taken seriously.  The crowd was SO into every old song they played....singing along, clapping, shouting HEY during Tetris.  And I'm pretty sure the crowd sang the first 2 lines from baseball on their own.

My ears are still ringing.  No literally, that venue was nice and tight.  I haven't been to a concert in a while, so yeah, ringing ears.

Oh and there was moshing.  THe best part was this dude with a spiky mohawk saw the moshing going on and made a beeline for it.  My friend and I (both in our late 20's) commented that he had been there before and wouldn't participate due to getting an ACTUAL scar at an Ozma concert (back in 2003) that night right before a big AP test.  Ironically, the song he moshed to that night was "Battlescars" and Ryan ended up signing an album cover telling my friend's mom that he wasn't at the Ozma show in a moshpit.  Funny stuff.

I also noticed that the crowd was a lot older than before, but that is to be expected.  Wish I had had a chance to talk with Ryan as I felt like he had become even more reclusive and awkward on stage.  Jose was a gas...they all got better it feels like, as musicians.
