Well, how was it?
I for one went, and had an absolute blast... there was a couple technical difficulties, but otherwise they were pretty flawless and rock steady. We did have some moshers which seemed a bit lame, but whatever floats your boat as long as you aren't hitting me constantly. The opening bands were very good, and actually bought the Trophy Fire album. I think that The Bottom of the Hill is such a cool place to have a show like this, it was very intimate and crazy at the same time.

Set List:
Underneath My Tree
If I Only had a Heart
Eponine
Continental Drift
Lunch Break
Incarnation Blues
Korobeiniki
Apple Trees
Heart Ache vs. Heart Break
Shooting Stars
The Business of Getting Down
Denise
Wake Up
Baseball
Domino / Landing of Yuri Gagarin
----------------------------------------
Natalie Portman
Gameover
Battlescars
1988

i went, and it was great. ozma put on an awesome show. everyone was on top of their game (despite the usual flubs). ryen continues to blow my mind with his monstrous soloing capabilities.

the moshers sucked. but it was mainly this one drunk dude in a white shirt that was incredibly obnoxious. things probably would have been less intense without him.
my biceps hurt from being a human barricade. at the least, i felt productive for helping to contain the moshers.

still loads of fun, though. good show. i even took it upon myself to finally meet heysarahsarah and bob511 (btw, sorry for driving dan away).

The show last night was SO good. I haven't seen them since they opened for Weezer.

I was just wondering though, is there any specific reason that they played these shows? Like, getting ready for a larger tour?

hopefully!

but i have a feeling it was just to let their presence be known. it's been a while since they played out.

Awesome show!

bob loblaw, don't sweat it, it was nice to meet you, though bob couldnt hear a word you said because it was loud, lol.

I am uploading vids as we speak.  Looks like Outlog was right by me.  I was on the very end of the stage by Star.

Hey Sarah... I take it you were the one who got the set list on the box infront of us for some close-ups?  :) I'm going to be uploading some vids today as well!

that, and i am extremely soft spoken.
i just felt a little bad because it was awkward, and i was kind of on a buzz (i had a beer during reeve oliver). i was meaning to say hi to dan somewhere in there but he just up and left. but yeah, i was on a mission to meet at least one OFF-er that i recognized that night.

i think i might've recognized the other justin on the boards... although i'm not sure. he looks like a young jeff tweedy with long hair, right?

oh, and i saw you filming part of battlescars. that was probably the most epic performance of battlescars i've witnessed so far.

patrick and i were there, but i had to sit in the back because i drunkenly hurt my ankle at bay to breakers the day before, and standing wasnt feeling so great.

but yeah, fun show.  it was interesting to see how the crowd has aged or matured or whatever you want to call it.

man, I was really hoping someone would punch that guy in the face. Or that he would get kicked out when he tried to crowd surf.

But it was an awesome show. I was so stoked they played Denise and Continental Drift.

I didn't see miriam there, but I probably wouldn't have recognized her.

ryen's using a strat regularly now? awesome.

Am I the only one who enjoyed the mosh pit?

Actually, I'm surprised there even was one. I've seen them a bunch before, albeit in Austin, and the crowd has never been as hype as it was last night. I figured I better take advantage of the situation and wasn't disappointed. You haven't experienced Korobieniki unless you've rocked out to it in a moshpit

seriously. he's never sounded better, imo. i loved his sound (leads on the verge of feedback) on monday.

yeah, i blame the lameness of the mosh on that one guy. at one point, he yanked one of my friends (he was wearing a referee shirt) in the mosh and shoved him all the way to the other side. i was ready to clock the fucker in the jaw.

i missed out on the show due to finals week, but i can still share your (negative) sentiments on mosh pits.
i feel in some places they're acceptable (lord knows i've done my fair share of it), but not so frequently in such small venues as the BOTH where there is not a lot of space and it's very easy for "innocent bystanders" to get sucked into the activity against their own choice. when there is such limited area to properly watch a show, people should be considerate enough to not drag others into their violent fun. if people look like they're trying not to mosh, don't crash into them and don't drag them in. i've had my share of a-holes knock themselves into me sending my beer glass crashing to the floor and all over my clothes. and i understand that moshing is by nature erratic and violent and unpredictable and takes a lot of space. but if the action is greatly impeding on the enjoyment of others directly around who also paid to see and enjoy the show, find a different place to dance.

haha yeah, I was there..I've never personally made the Jeff Tweedy connection, but now that you mention it I can kinda see the resemblance.

and man, I was so happy to see Drunk WhiteShirt Guy fall flat on his face after trying to crowd surf.

and you smelled like burritos

haha, now I'm not sure you're thinking of me. I was in a green elected shirt (photo of me for reference:
http://photos-560.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v54/40/69/1063530560/n1063530560_30093036_2009.jpg
I don't think I smell like burritos, but when you're covered in sweat from a dozen strangers- things can start smelling kinda funky

Also I think this was the tightest I've seen Ozma play since the Reunion Show, everyone seemed to be at the top of the game- except the lady running the soundboard, as it took her 5 minutes to get  the backing tracks for Lunchbreak to run through the house speakers...

totally worth the wait though, Lunchbreak is actually really fun live, "cupcake, a fucking cupcake!"

Brady

Nicely done, thanks for all the media, good stuff!

See the li'l '59er pick up in the bridge position? That may well be Jose's Strat Plus....not Ryen's .  Jose is the one who has that Seymore Duncan model in all his electric guitars. Just my observation.

Yeah, I believe its Jose's backup from the STOTB/Yes Dear period. I am pretty sure they both share it as a backup now. Ryen sometimes still uses his stickered original white tele which also has a 'lil 59, though.

supsup you hit me like a girl from behind, what kind of shit is that?  You are easily twice my size and had to sucker punch at an Ozma show?  Come on now.

bulb dylan

I understand the whole moshing argument of "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen," but as a mosher you also have to deal with the fact that if you hit someone accidentally and they don't like it... a little retaliation might occur.
